Seems like I’m going to be running late with regular posts all this week!   What with Monday Madness being posted on Tuesday and all.  I feel like I’m walking through maple syrup, uphill, so please forgive me.

Today, I’m going to recommend an interesting choice of movies for Friday Flicks. It’s new out on DVD and it’s a VAMPIRE movie. Yep, you read that right…

I don’t usually recommend movies of the horror genre, but this film is amazing. It’s a Korean language film, so you need to wear your speck’s whilst watching it, but it’s so thoroughly worth it!

It’s about a priest who “accidentally” becomes a vampire whilst trying to do the right thing…  I love how he responds to becoming a vamp, in this quote from the movie;  “Grant me the following in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Like a leper rotting in flesh, let all avoid me. Like a cripple without limbs, let me not move freely. Remove my cheeks, that tears may not roll down them. Crush my lips and tongue, that I may not sin with them. Pull out my nails, that I may not grasp nothing. Let my shoulders and back be bent, that I may carry nothing. Like a man with tumor in the head let me lack judgment. Ravage my body sworn to chastity leave me with no pride, and have me live in shame. Let no one pray for me. But only the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me.”

It spoke to me of the ability we all have to choose how we respond to bad things that happen to us.  A true tale of redemption, in my opinion.

Here is a snippet from the FilmGuide review: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; most vampire films fail to impress me. Thirst however now sits comfortable on top of my favourite vampire movies of all time list, easily removing Let The Right One In from its coveted position.

There are some risque, adult scenes, throughout the film, so be pre-warned!

FilmGuide gave it 10 stars out of a possible 10.

If you do decide to rent it, let me know what you thought in the comments below.

Today, I’m carrying on the knitting design work that I began yesterday.

New Dishcloths on the way...

I’m working on these new designs both in the dining room (near the computer) and in the lounge whilst catching up with episodes of the mentalist. :D

If you don’t want to read rafts of negativity – move on at this point…  I don’t want to bring you down.

What to do with the seven 500gm bags of dried Apricots I picked up from the supermarket for 99c a bag?!

Why, make jam, of course!

Very, very delicious apricot jam – 500gm of dried fruit makes 3 large jars!

Ingredients
500 gms Dried Apricots
1  litre Water
1 kg White Sugar
1/2 packet of Kings Jam Setting Mix
Jars

Put the apricots into large bowl and cover with the water.  Leave to soak overnight.  I left mine in the fridge.

Pour the apricots and water into a large saucepan. Cook on medium heat for 10-15 minutes, or until the apricots become soft.

Add sugar and stir until dissolved.

Reduce the heat and let the jam simmer. Great tip: Sterilise jars now,  whilst the jam is simmering. Stirring occasionally over the course of one hour, or until the jam gels when tested. Pour into sterilised hot jars.  Let stand until cold and then seal.

This recipe makes some very delicious jam, much tastier than the store bought kind.  And, for me very cheap – I’m thinking around $2ish for all three jars!!!

I also bought eight 1kg bags of Sultanas and seven 1kg bags of Prunes – what to do with them?  Got any ideas?
