Yep, I’ve managed to quickly spend the profits of Saturday’s market.  I bought and swapped for some fabulous crafty goodness, and also spent a good hour at Spotlight buying new fabric to make some more items to sell.  The crafty addiction cycle goes on…

kiwiana goodness…

I’ve found that you can find great fabric in the curtaining department!

some fabric to make things for the boys…

1930′s reproduction fabrics
some florals…
and look what I spotted,
you may remember seeing this in something I recently bought from softings!

I’ll do another post about all the good people I met and things I bought and swapped at the markets tomorrow.  Keep an eye out…

Plus, don’t forget to enter my giveaway – you have until November 30th.

I am loving these neat little fabric bracelets. I based them on the pattern made by jchandmade’s tutorial found free on her blog, changing the shape and the method that they are buttoned together, by using hand-sewn loops rather than hair tie elastic. :) You can find a neat tutorial on how to sew button loops on the ysolda blog.

The one I am wearing in the photograph was made out of an old linen teatowel that little miss flossy sent me last year. It was super scary to cut into, but I’ve decided these little wristlets are a great way to show off and use your favourite fabric. The fabric is not much use hiding away in piles in my craft room!!

As a sideline, I discovered it is very difficult to try and take photographs of your own wrist… The little fabric wristlet is so much better in person, believe me! :)

What do you think?! Cool or not?

I’ve been wanting to make one of these ever since they began arriving on the blogging scene last year. And so here are my first two tea wallet proto-type’s…

You may remember seeing the fabric for the cat tea wallet on my retreat montage, and yes it was made to match… :) I now have a neat little trio to have in my handbag…

Did you guess that I like cat’s, and the colours, orange and green? ;)

I do really LOVE my diary cover… Now I can keep up with everything in my life (and my kid’s lives too!)

The green stripy fabric was one of the many fat quarters I received in the sewmamasew fat quarter swap. Thanks Jacqui! All the other fabric was out of my growing stash… I swear my stash is like a living thing!

POSTSCRIPT for Kristy and anyone else who has been wondering;
Tea wallets are to hold teabags in your handbag. You know, if you’ve got a favourite cuppa and want to be able to take it with you to a friends house. Maybe they don’t drink tea or don’t drink the tea you like (eg. Earl Grey). You can buy specialty tea bags (like the kind you get at motels and restaurants) and put them in the pockets. Makes a great gift too!

Well, I’ve received all the fat quarters now, and it’s time for the big reveal;

from Terri | Terri’s Notebook
She included a neat little case, some buttons and some yarn…. I just LOVE the colours and the fat quarter!

from Maren
I just LOVE paisley and red too! I wish we had a Joann’s store in NZ – I know I’d spend up large…
from Regan | Stitch In My Side
She wrote me a note all about the fabric, and I just LOVE the red Dia de los Muertos fabric… It’s so cool, my 12 year old daughter has her eyes on that one!
from Jacqui | Hazelnuts
These were the first fat quarters I received for the swap, and I love them! I am especially glad to have found Jacqui’s blog too! It’s a goodie, and to think she lives in the same city as I do…
Deb not only sent me a fat quarter, but she also included some spotty ribbon, which I’m sure I’ll put to good use. :)
from Catherine
Gotta love foodie fat quarters, and I now have enough to make a quilt or something. Although a couple of pot holders would probably be better… LOL!
And last but not least, another foodie fat quarter:
from Viv | Highway Cottage
Who doesn’t like strawberries, brings me great reminders of summer and Christmas…
I truly loved being a part of this swap and making new friends, and I loving getting to know people through their blogs, if they have them… :) If you’re reading this Maren and Catherine and have blogs, please let me know and I’ll add your details.
Thanks to all of the people who swapped fabric with me, I think this was the best swap I’ve ever joined in, as the postage costs were minimal!
I had lots of difficulty photographing the fabric, because I had a little helper:
I kid you not, he climbed up every time I set the next lot of fabric onto the table! He is currently cosying up on my knee whilst I try to type. I guess he want’s some attention, huh!
They do say cat’s and crafting go together…. ;)

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting a fatquarter swap, and as they say, we all love good mail! So, I decided to sign up and you can too!

All you need to do is send 4 fat’s off to 4 different people and you’ll recieve 4 back in the post. Sounds good, right? :) And it’s an international swap, meaning that little ole me in NZ can join in the fun! YAY!

Spotlight is a dangerous shop for my bank balance, especially with my new addiction to fabric. I managed to contain it a little by only buying three different fabrics, but that was largely due to having Mr. Sew-Funky with me at the time!

Please excuse the quality of the pictures, I really must get photography lessons…

CRAYON BOX – Japanese fabric

I think this fabric would be great to make crayon roll’s with… at least that’s the plan!

FLORAL KITTY’S

I couldn’t resist buying this super cute kitty fabric… I don’t know if I’ve said this on the sew-funky blog before or not, but if it wasn’t for Mr. Sew-Funky I believe they’d be calling me the crazy cat lady!!! ;)

CIRCUS BANANZA

Hmmm! When I spotted this on Silly Gilly’s blog and then at Spotlight all on the same day, I knew I had to have some of this fabric. She say’s she doesn’t like the clowns, but I do! :D

and other cool items…

After voting this morning and taking Mr SewFunky to work (aargh he has to work today and tomorrow – all weekend!), I decided to stop by my favourite bargain warehouse – Mr Bo Jumbles. What a haul we got! New (to us anyway) clothes, tablecloths, fabric, aprons and a really cute little puppet!

Here are the aprons, modeled by the lovely Hope (& Bree);

And a tablecloth (I LOVE the colours!)

Fabric (that brown thing had been marked for embroidery – a cushion cover?)

And an embroidered cloth ( the teacup is actually a little pocket! – very CUTE!)

And a cute little handmade dress that I’m going to make into a bag! Yes, it’s wool and embroidered…

And a very AWESOME doggie puppet, Harry!

And on a completely different note, look at what Mr SewFunky found while he was meant to be working!

Thanks to Jodz for the idea of getting fabric from the curtain section of Spotlight, I am now in possession of 4 great fabrics. They are going to make some great pyjama bottoms for both me and the girls. The cost was so VERY cheap ($2 a metre)! That makes making them myself affordable and worth the extra effort. I am thinking plain t shirts on the top, with perhaps something appliquéd or freezer paper stenciled for interest.

for mefor the Aimster (9 years old)
for Bree (8 years old)
for Hope (11 years old)

I am sure Jodee recognises the fabric I chose for Bree, as she used it when she decorated her 5 year old daughter’s bedroom… ;) I just LOVE it!

Don’t forget you have about 6 more hours to enter my 200th post giveaway as I am doing the draw tonight at around 8pm NZ time! So get to it if you want to win. You can enter as many times as you like – so if you want another chance, go for it!

I managed to get to my local op shop’s this morning. It was a lot of fun finding some new little bargains, although I didn’t find any more vintage sheeting for some new lounge pants. I think I may need to go for a little outing to Spotlight for that, unfortunately.

Here are some photo’s of my finds… (all from the Sallies)
Someone obviously spent a bit of time making some patchwork squares, was it for a quilt or a different project? My interest is peeked. I have dreams for them now though…

And a whole heap of knitting and craft books:-
