KAL Mid Month February – LOVE (Rachels Knitting Room)
KAL Mid Month February – repeated pattern cloth (Monthly Dishcloths)
Knitted Elephant Cloth

I was really happy with how all three turned out. The Elephant cloth will become part of Bree’s themed pressie! :) I will definitely make the one from Monthly Dishcloths again – it’s a really easy, great looking pattern, and a good way to use up the odd yarn remnants that remain after knitting cloths.

My daughter, Briahna, is going to be 8 this time next week – eeek! Anyway, she loves elephants and so I am busy making her lot’s of elephant themed presents. I’ve made an elephant finger puppet, a knitted elephant (what I learnt double pointed knitting for!) and now this cute little softie. I am going to make an elephant facecloth and a appliqued bag too!

an idea is formed

(this will become the applique for the bag!)
a softie is created
This idea has been brewing in my head for about a month now. I think it would make a great baby softie (without the button eyes!). Speaking of the buttons, they are some really old vintage buttons I got from my grandmothers collection – aren’t they gorgeous!!!

I will post more pics of my elephant creations next week, when a certain someone is at school!

knitted zombie finger puppet -
designed by me for my hubby’s birthday present
(he kinda likes zombies!)

and yes, I’m gonna design and make more!! It was so fun to do, especially after using other peoples patterns to make the farmyard animals! I was dreaming about the variety of zombie’s I could make last night – it kept me awake!

Today, I made a little something for my daughters birthday – I’ll post a pic after her birthday (which is in less than a fortnight – eeek!) and played catch up with the knitalong dishcloths that I am doing. See below:

KAL Day 3 (Monthly Dishcloths)

KAL Day 2 (Monthly Dishcloths)

I have found knitting dishcloths when I am waiting for the girls to get out of school to be very cathartic, I no longer want them to hurry up. I am happy to wait! :)

I finally finished the kiwi dishcloth – unfortunately I can’t remember where I got the pattern from and a quick google search hasn’t helped me – hate that! I like to give credit where credit is due, so if you know where I got it from , let me know in the comments!

POST SCRIPT: Thanks to Edna, I’ve discovered where I got this pattern from… (Rachels Knitting Room). You have to be a member to have access to the pattern, so that explains why I couldn’t find it on my search! :)

I like the cloth, it’s a little larger than most of the cloths I’ve made before and at times I got tired of knitting it – but it’s done now and it’s good! I actually think I may have almost come to the end of my knitting dishcloths addiction – I’ll still knit them, just not in such high doses! I say all that just as I embark on another knitalong run by the monthly dishcloth group

KAL Day 1 (Monthly Dishcloths)

This cloth is one that is knit in two colours, so that should make it a little more interesting! :)

Yesterday, my friend Jodee showed off some little finger puppets she has knitted recently, telling me they were super easy to make. So today, I decided to try making some for myself, and here are the results:

Aimee with Horse & Pig

I am going to try the other three finger puppets in the series later on tonight. Jonathan is taking Hope & Aimee to church, but since Briahna is still sick I am spending the night at home with her and my knitting needles! You can find the free pattern on the How Stuff Works website.

I made a trip to Spotlight to buy a couple of balls of wool so that I could complete the set of puppets and came out with 22 balls of wool…

They were having a big clear-out and each ball was just $1.99 each. What a bargain, I couldn’t just leave with 2 balls! The best buy had to be the Cleckheaton Machine Wash Crepe Wool which is usually $8 a ball. After convincing myself that I wouldn’t have to buy any more wool for a while I headed to the counter to make my purchases ($44 worth!). I am a happy girl!

My wool supply worries are over!

Using the card I bought off my sister, Rebekah, and a whole pile of printers rejects from the book “Dick & Jane”, I set about making a whole pile of cards with my trusty old sewing machine. It was oh so quick and easy!

Here is the card I based my designs on -

Bo Peep Card by duck duck goose
I have tried to convince Rebekah to get herself a blog, but so far there has been no success! She is very talented and creative and I think the blogging world could learn a lot from her…
And here are, but a few of the twenty, cards I made…And my favourite, because the girl looks so much like how my Aimee looked at that age!I am pleased with how “retro” they turned out! Tell me what you think in the comments… Also, go buy a card or two from my sister’s felt shop – it works just like etsy!

I have been busy creating the last couple of days – unfortunately most of the creations are to be gifts, so I can’t post pictures yet. I am wondering how other people deal with this. Especially when you know the person the gift is intended for regularly reads your blog! Give me some help here!!

One thing I can show you is the personalisation of one of the rice bags I made yesterday. See the process below…

I made two rice bag sacks the same (big mistake as very quickly the girls were fighting about whose was whose!) So I gathered the materials needed to personalise them.
I wrote Aimee’s name in invisible ink and embroidered her name in metallic thread. (unfortunately it means that when the sack is heated it needs to come out of the sock!)
Here is Aimee wearing the bag across her shoulders. It’s the perfect size for this. Personally, though, I like to use it on my stomach for that “extra special” time of the month. ;)

Happy Valentines Day! I will be making the draw for my giveaway later on today. So keep tuned to see if you are the one who won! I won something today in Bridget’s owoh giveaway! Yay!

Today I made some rice bags (and a tutorial for them too) – the girls are sick with sore tummies and what better way to help your tummy feel better than a rice bag! So take a look!

My gorgeous nephew turned one yesterday! So exciting!!! I wish I could be there – but a few hundred miles separate us!

Anyhow, my thing a day for today is going to be cryptic. It’s his birthday present and I want it to be a surprise for his Mum!! So here’s a clue…
